It starts from the lips that slowly open
and then gradually reaches the eyes that begin to light up
until it radiates the whole face
of this light-child, as magical as Christmas
Smiling is an unstoppable force
It vanquishes the wicked
with its disarming innocence
It diminishes gloomy thoughts
and softens them
in the grand design of life
It makes us rediscover
The things that are really precious
Smiling is fearless
It is readily infectious
like yawning
but it’s much more fun
It is expressed with the Esperanto of emotions
And it is understood, wordlessly
from one side of the world to the other
Like music, cooking and love
Smiling is contagious
Back and forth in a timeless time
The eyes watch
from the window of a mountain cottage
A silent and white landscape
Only coloured lights of the trees
in the winking light of the night
The chimneys puff, the snowflakes fall lightly
and the mice in snowsuits joyfully put on their skis
Smile, it’s Christmas time!
